Acquiring natural, un-backed large cabochons of Lander Blue turquoise is not easy. Lander Blue is the rarest of all American turquoises mined – less than 120 pounds was retrieved. The Huntress happened to be in the right place at the right time buying from the right person AND having cash in hand. For an artist to be given the opportunity to set Lander turquoise of this size is “once-in-a-lifetime.” The Huntress was able to acquire 3 large cabochons of Lander so Sam will be triply honored. Sam set this massive cab of Lander in an old-style Patania setting - showcasing the stone to maximal effect. Sam’s stampwork gives the cuff added visual intrigue and an essence of patina.
