CT003 Carl Tasha estate gold sculptural necklace
with star rubies, circa-1970s, SOLD One of Provincetown’s genuine originals, Carl Tasha, who died in September, 2006, was noted for his unique and exquisite metal sculpture and jewelry. Considered by Nancy Lamb-Gribbin, Carl’s long-time co-creator, to be among Carl’s finest jewelry creations, this show stopping, sculptural gold necklace carries whimsy to smashing effect. Each nude is solid cast gold and the necklace is constructed so the star ruby cabochons that crown the creation lie perfectly along the base of the throat. This particular piece was created in the 1970’s for Jimmy Simpson, one of Provincetown’s more flamboyant denizens, by Carl in lieu of rent. Jimmy supplied Carl with various pieces of estate gold – 12kt, 14kt, 18kt, etc. – and from them, this necklace came into being. This one-of-a-kind work of art is destined for one very special person to wear. Is it you? |
