MT083 Vintage Margot de Taxco sterling
silver, blue and green enamel floral garland bracelet; circa-1955
to 1978 A delicate garland of blue forget-me-nots twines with ribbons around the wrist in one of Margot's most feminine statement pieces. The Victorian language of flowers interpreted forget-me-nots as emblematic of faithful, true love. This bracelet owes much of its fairytale appeal to the meticulous craftsmanship that brought the little flowers to life with a delicately glowing palette. Each color was loaded on to tiny brushes and placed precisely into minute silver crevasses made by Margot's repousse forms, gradually achieving glowing, gemlike brilliance as hues were built up, layer-upon-layer. The forget-me-not blues glow in delicate contrast with the deep rich greens of leaves and ribbons, almost as if the flowers were glimpsed in the enchanted confines of a dim woodland forest. Pure magic on the wrist! |
