Taxco / Mexican Vintage Jewelry

MT082  Vintage Margot de Taxco sterling silver, blue and enamel green floral circles bracelet; circa-1955 to 1978
Origin:  Taxco, Mexico
Dimensions:  7.5" x .75"; 36 gm
Condition:  Very Good – The features of this bracelet are petite and 3-dimensional.  The enamellist employed blanket coverage for applying the color powders prior to firing since the features are too small to truly segregate the colors.  As such, the bracelet was never perfect in appearance for delineation of enamel lines.  There is enamel loss by virtue of thinning at the peaks from the enamel process and general wear patterns.  Overall, enamel loss is to be expected and is not excessive.  Additional photos available.
Provenance:  To be published in Penny Morrill’s upcoming book on Margot van Voorhies Carr – Margot de Taxco
Price:  $675.00

Dainty garlands of forget-me-nots twirl gaily ruffled loops around the wrist, a festive motif celebrating the resurgence of Springtime.  This bracelet is a masterpiece of complex and delicate enamel artistry, its glowing blues and greens precisely brushed into the tiny silver hollows forming the bracelet design and built up, layer-on-layer, to display a freshness and intensity of color that blooms beautifully on the wearer.  In fabulous condition, this coveted and rarely seen design captures the ephemeral beauty of early Spring woodland flowers, forever fresh in Margot's masterwork.
