Margot's brilliantly hued tribute to Hatshepsut and the splendors of ancient Egypt pays homage to all those clever, cheeky women who beat the odds of a patriarchal society and dare to take their own power. The brilliant S-curve Egyptian bracelet, with its brilliantly colorful enamels echo the hues found in Hatshepsut's temple at Deir-el-Bahari, with its terraced platforms and graceful columns, the pinnacle of Egyptian builder's art. HATSHEPSUT'S TEMPLE WAS EXCAVATED DURING THE '20'S AND '30'S, REVEALING A STRUCTURE OF BREATHTAKING GRACE THAT FIRED MANY 20TH CENTURY ARTISTIC IMAGINATIONS. Unlike the ponderous masculine architecture of Egypt's other rulers, the queen's temple is charming, lighthearted and feminine, revealing niches full of bright hues, arched chapels, and small white steps leading upward to shallow sanctuaries filled with the sort of charming details and amusing ornaments that might adorn a clever woman's boudoir. Margot captures the feminine, artistic and lighthearted spirit of Egypt's most powerful queen, whose 22-year reign poured wealth into the land through far-flung trade, nourishing the crafts of builders and artisans. A fabulous bracelet for a woman who loves art, and uses her power wisely.
