MP017 Vintage Matilde Poulat Matl sterling silver
and turquoise bracelet, (pre-‘eagle’) circa-1934
- 1948 Wide, graceful bracelet set with a row of sky blue turquoise, bearing an abstract motif based on carvings of a ceremonial dance rattle (Chicahuastli), a signature emblem of the Aztec gods of sun, water and mountains. This design’s lacy filigree resembles the delicate cast work that embellished the fabulous archeological jewelry finds at Monte Alban, an early ‘30’s discovery that proved a seminal influence on Poulat’s artistic style. Carry out the artist’s exotic vision with the MATL earrings and pin of similar design which the Huntress has listed separately as MP018 and MP019. Matilde Poulat magically incorporates ancient legends, Mexican folk art traditions and modern artistic sensibilities in this joyful bracelet, bliss to wear and behold. |
