Owner before that was a reliable East Coast jewelry seller. Research indicates hallmark plaques are appropriate to the age of the set - appearing from 1980 to the present. (Bille Hougart's "Little Book of Mexican Silver Trade and Hallmarks") Ricardo Salas' family members continue to make his designs using various hallmarks that make dating pieces very difficult.

Matilde Poulat, 'Matl', was first and foremost, a designer of jewelry. She drew her inspiration from the rich culture of her native country and kept the old motifs alive in her jewelry. Upon her passing in 1960, Ricardo Salas, Matilde's nephew and longtime silversmith, continued to make Matilde's designs up to the time of his death in 2005.

How wonderful to have a complete set by Ricardo Salas Poulat. Beautifully decorated with the accent stones that make 'Matl-Salas' jewelry famous - the deep-colored amethyst stones and brilliantly-hued turquoise - this set speaks volumes of the beauty of Mexico. The set is in fabulous condition with very little evidence of wear. With its luscious colors and festive design, it will complement so many of your most joyous activities and make you the center of attention, wherever you may be.
