This whimsical dagger brooch is featured as Plate XXIII-13 in “Mexican Silver” by Morrill and Berk.  It bears Matl’s signature style of bezel set stones and intricate sterling silver scroll work.  This large and eye-catching silver Taxco brooch not only makes a statement, but offers incredible “play value”:  its dagger can be drawn from its exotically bejeweled sheath where it will dangle on an almost invisible sterling chain.  The cursive signature hallmark dates this piece to the mid-1940’s, marking it as a very early, very rare and most desirable Matl collectible.
