LPZ01 Vintage Gerardo Lopez sterling silver necklace,
bracelet and earrings; circa-1948 to 1950 Baroque repousse design in beautifully aged sterling draws equal inspiration from Colonial Spain and Art Nouveau. This gorgeous set signed for Gerardo Lopez could easily be mistaken for early Margot de Taxco. Its swirling lines are accented by deep oxidation, highlighting softly gleaming surfaces of domes, beads, fronds and teardrops. In the mid-‘50’s, according to Morrill and Berk’s Mexican Silver, Gerardo Lopez’s large taller and shop was recommended by all the guidebooks as one of the best silver shops in Taxco. This set exemplifies that exceptional quality, with powerful visual and tactile impact. Stunning worn as an ensemble, the pieces are also very easy to wear separately. |
