Taxco / Mexican Vintage Jewelry

LC042 Vintage Los Castillo sterling silver “Crossed Fronds” bracelet, (pre-‘eagle’) circa-1940’s
Origin: Taxco, Mexico
Dimensions: 7.25" x .75"; 52.2 gm
Condition: Excellent
Provenance: Private Collection
Price: SOLD

This graceful design displays crossed fronds looped around the wrist, the texture of the fronds contrasting beautifully with the stems' smooth curls for a look of dynamic elegance. Passing decades have burnished the silver to a mellow glow against the oxydized recesses of the repousse work. The stylized plant motif shows the influence of Margot de Taxco, who translated her love of plants and flowers into scores of designs produced by Los Castillo during her marriage to Antonio. One of Los Castillo's most winsome and lyrical early pieces, this eloquent bracelet is quietly, elegantly assertive on the wrist, and makes a choice addition to any vintage Taxco collection.
