Taxco / Mexican Vintage Jewelry

LC031 - Rare vintage Los Castillo sterling silver fish bracelet; circa-1940’s (pre-“eagle”)
Origin: Taxco, Mexico
Dimensions: 1.75” W; 7” L; 96.7 gm
Condition: Excellent
Price: SOLD

Exceptionally rare, extraordinarily detailed and highly collectible bracelet featuring fish tumbling in rippling waves and bubbles. The workmanship is absolutely amazing, with fish scales, bubbles and curling waves intertwining to lend depth and texture to the piece. Few of this design are known to be in existence. This particular bracelet will be featured in Penny Morrill’s upcoming book on Margot de Taxco; another appears in Carole Berk’s internet article on “Featured Designers” of Mexican silver, www.caroleberk.com/artisan.htm. Undoubtedly designed by Margot van Voorhies Carr while still married to Don Antonio Castillo, this bracelet holds the brilliance of two of Taxco’s greatest jewelry producers. With the soft patina of age imparting that subtle allover glow so coveted by the discerning collector, this stunner is eye-catching on the wrist!
