LC002 - Vintage Los Castillo rare hallmark 980 silver (a higher grade silver than sterling) necklace/bracelet set, circa-1940’s, $3,000

Origin:  Taxco, Mexico
Dimensions:  Necklace – 16”L, 1”W, 166 gm
Bracelet – 5 3/4” inner circumference with 7/8” gap; 1”W, 85 gm
Condition:  Excellent (bracelet has silver solder repair work on the inside curve)

This is a highly sought-after and stunning early Los Castillo design that never fails to gain attention from appreciative audiences.  Known as the Pre-Columbian Double Swirl necklace, it is shown as Figure 249 in Penny Morrill’s “William Spratling and the Mexican Silver Renaissance: Maestros de Plata.”  Bears the very rare “980 Los Castillo Taxco” hallmark.  Necklace employs hook-and-eye closure.  Cuff bracelet fits a small to medium wrist size. Worn together or apart, they consistently draw raves from absolute strangers.
