HA044 Vintage Rare Hector Aguilar Valentin Vidaurreta-inspired
940 silver cascabeles bracelet, circa-1950s When Cortes and his men first saw the Aztec capital of Tenochtitlan in 1519, they were dumbstruck by the fantastic beauty of its masonry towers and temples rising from the water of the canals as if floating by a sorcerer’s magic. The Spaniards were equally overwhelmed by the lavish and colorful dress of its inhabitants. Nobles of the city adorned themselves with little bells whose delightful sound accompanied every move. Aguilar’s design recalls Aztec finery, adorning this exotic number with a double row of tiny bells whose rounded shapes echo the rows of raised dots bordering the center of the bracelet. The bells add the fascination of movement and captivating chimes to a brilliantly simple design. Go get your Aztec on (but don’t blame the Huntress if this sexy number happens to ring the chimes of the nearest fierce warrior). And next time you wear this in Santa Fe, just watch all those dealers and collectors eating their killer little hearts out! |
