Taxco / Mexican Vintage Jewelry

HA020 – Vintage Rare Hector Aguilar Aztec Flower Bracelet in 940 Silver (a higher grade than sterling), circa – 1940’s (pre-“eagle”), SOLD
Origin:  Taxco, Mexico
Dimensions:  6.5” – 6.63”L, 1.25”W; 122 gm
Condition:  Excellent

Provenance:  Consignment piece, inherited from the owner’s grandfather’s estate.  The bracelet was taken to the June 30, 2007 ‘Antiques Roadshow’ in Orlando, FL where authenticity, age and value were verbally appraised.  Photo of bracelet and ‘Roadshow’ tickets provided on request.

This is one of the rarer panel bracelets done by Hector Aguilar.  Each panel depicts an Aztec interpretation of the native flowers of the region.  Superb in artistry and execution, this exquisite design is featured in ‘Mexican Silver’ by Morrill & Berk, page 104, Plate VII-14.  The bracelet is oval-shaped so it rides quite comfortably on the wrist.  The pin-and-barrel hinges are secure and the bracelet carries the original pin closure and safety chain.  Rarely seen and in excellent original condition, a coup for any serious collection.
