Hector Aguilar’s work is highly collectible and actively sought by Mexican Silver enthusiasts.

The Armadillo design by Hector Aguilar is quite rare, substantial yet refined, and immensely popular among serious collectors.  The design so captured popular imagination that Aguilar gave Manuel Altamirano, Sr., a master silversmith, permission to issue a version under his own name.  Here is your chance to own an exemplary rendition from the maestro himself -- appropriately hallmarked for Hector Aguilar with the conjoined “HA, Sterling, Made in Mexico,” one of his early marks.

This massive sterling silver buckle is truly amazing when viewed in person.  Although “a picture is worth a thousand words,” one really needs to handle this piece to appreciate the workmanship: simply put, it is the essence of mastery.  Experience at first-hand the elegance and balance that only Aguilar imparts to this sophisticated design.  The buckle’s colossal dimensions and refined austerity make an indelible visual statement.   Add a black suede, velvet or soft leather belt (we are actively engaged in a search for the correct belt leather and will have it custom sized for you at no charge), clasp it around your waist and take on the world.

Examples of the Armadillo are featured in "Silver Masters", page 198, by Penny Morrill and Christie Romero's 'Warman's Jewelry', page 229.   Collector and museum quality.
