CB004 Vintage Carmen Beckmann sterling silver
and Mexican opal bracelet, circa-1960 to 1980 Stone-studded stunner featuring fiery Mexican opals, Carmen Beckmann's cuff recalls '60's bohemian days and decadent nights. Not that the Huntress herself remembers them!!! (She'll leave it to you, dear Clients, to surmise whether that's due to her fresh-faced youth or purple-haz'd memory.) Ahem! Simple, insouciant design exhibits the stones' sassy sizzle and iridescent fire to splendid effect. Modern in concept, the piece also references ancient artistry. The Aztecs incorporated the Hummingbird Stone (so-called for its likeness to the iridescence of the bird's feathers) in ceremonial and ornamental pieces until the conquest in 1519, when knowledge of the mines locations was quickly lost. Rediscovered in the mid-1800's, the mines reached peak production from 1965-1975, when the world caught opal fever and stones like these were sold by the sackful. Catch the fever! Quick, click this cuff on, and spread a little sunshine! |
